America’s Cup NYC

May 7-8, the greatest race in sailing came to the Big Apple for the first time in almost 100 years….The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series! I was over the moon excited when I found out the race would be so close to home and I knew I had to be there to witness history!!

If you’re not familiar with AC, it is a high speed (well, as fast as the wind) sailing race on a closed course offshore between 6 teams from around the world-USA, France, Great Britain, Japan, Sweden and New Zealand. The best way to catch up on the event… Check out this video from AC on SUPER SUNDAY IN NYC!

Chris and I had a wonderful time at our first sailing race! (Plus I am ALWAYS down to rock the red, white & blue for the greatest country in the world!) I got a lot of compliments on my hat… It’s from a cheap beach store in Florida! Love finding little treasures like that!

We cheered on Oracle team USA from the shores of the Hudson and I’m proud to say we had a pretty good view as the teams sailed on by!  Despite coming in 2nd overall for the event, team USA did an outstanding job on our home turf and put up a great fight!

The best part of the event was the whole spectacle of it all. You could really feel like you were experiencing something special, something that is a once in a lifetime kind of thing. We cruised through the Oracle team USA shop, the Vineyard Vines and Sperry shops, learned about the host island to the finals at the visit Bermuda booth and enjoyed Bermuda’s chief export, Goslings rum…in the name of of strictly economic support of course.

America’s Cup, you were a dream come true. We just might have to plan a little trip down to Bermuda in 2017 for the finals….I’m hooked.

Proud to be in the land of the free 🇺🇸,
